I AM CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
FOR ONE TO ONE TUITION
AT MY STUDIO IN NE LONDON.
When you decide to work with me, here's what you will get:
We all get around the guitar in our own way and
learn and recall the information
in our own way.
One way or the other though, you have to deal
with 3 types
of information: Melody, rhythm
and
harmony.
The only other ingredient is
what
you
feel in your guts. Call it spirit, drive, feel or
whatever.
It comes and goes in intensity for
everyone and is
probably the main motivator
for bothering to learn
the other 3 ingredients!
You play the way you do right NOW and that is
what needs to be built on.
Being efficient with
practice, fingering, focus etc is vital. Everyone is
going to achieve this in slightly different ways.
I help you to find
a way that will work for you.
To
be able to KEEP moving forward, you have to
have some overview of what
you are learning.
If you just learn songs and pieces, for sure you
will
get better, but that won’t unlock the
mysteries
of the fretboard
and ultimately you will
probably
wind up frustrated. Whichever way you
slice it,
you are playing chords and scales, so it is
important to see
how they connect. If you do,
you
can use the information in any musical
situation.
So I get you to learn some of that information. It is
VITAL to play music
that you love, but the core level
information is the same whatever style
you play.
If you like blues for instance, you have to have the
clichés
and riffs that make up the style to sound
effective. If you see how these
fit in to the bigger
picture, you can transfer the information
and KEEP
learning.
I TRY TO GET YOU TO BECOME
YOUR OWN TEACHER.
Groove is king in my world, so I use a lot of
techniques
to get your playing
to be very strong
rhythmically.
My experience has definitely taught
me
that a simple
thing played totally in the
rhythmic pocket is what most
people respond
best to.
If you want to play jazz, then you need modes of
certain
scales ( melodic
and harmonic minors are
big here) to
sound effective.
If you want to play
country music, these
scales
may not float your boat.
In a private lesson, I am able to completely focus
on
your taste,
your technique, your way of
getting and
recalling
information and give you
the information in
a way that suits you.
I supply you with a CD at the end of each lesson
that is a synopsis
of what we have covered.
I record
it for you then and there, so it will
remind
you exactly
of what you learned in the lesson.
A one
off lesson is £40.
I prefer to book batches
of 4 so we
can set targets.
The cost for 4 lessons is £120,
saving
you £10 per lesson.
